Washington D.C. Security Fund Drained From President’s July 4 Extravaganza

Washington D.C.’s mayor is now asking the Trump administration to reimburse the city after President Trump’s July 4 extravaganza drained the city’s budget for security.

According to Mayor Muriel Bowser, the event and protests surrounding it cost the D.C. government roughly $1.7 million dollars.

In a letter to the president, she stated that the city’s emergency planning and security fund would be depleted by the end of 2019.

The president’s July 4 celebration featured military flyovers, tanks and music.

The scope of the celebration drew criticism for the high cost.
