Man Sentenced 30-50 Years for The Murder of His Girlfriend in 2017

“I don’t know what happened, I was there and I did it. Anxiety turned into fear which turned into something I couldn’t control,” said John O’Connor, convicted for killing his girlfriend in December of 2017.

John O’Connor learned his punishment Thursday.

O’Connor was convicted in March for the second degree murder of Michelle Kukulski.

Prosecutors say he beat her to death with a can of yams.

The two knew each other for nearly 30 years.

O’Connor was supposed to be sentenced last month, but the judge needed more time to look over the pre-sentence investigative report.

Thursday, he’s sent O’Connor behind bars for 31 ½  to 50 years.

“I don’t find it appropriate to give you any real opportunity to be released again, not given your age or the severity of this offense. With this 225-375 slash l I’m sure Mr. Cord explained to you is that what that means is I could give you up to life in prison but I would tell you a life sentence would not be appropriate for you,” said Honorable Judge Colin Hunter of Crawford County.

O’Connor does not have a chance for parole.
