DNR Hopes Slow Spread of Chronic Wasting Disease with New Regulations

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has approved new regulations aimed at stopping the spread of chronic wasting disease in deer.

The new policies continue a ban on baiting-and-feeding in the Lower Peninsula.

It also expands the ban to Upper Peninsula’s Core CWD Surveillance Area effective immediately.

Other changes include securing deer scent material in places deer cannot reach and implementing an experimental four-point antler restriction for Mecosta, Montcalm and Ionia counties.
