Castle Farms: Sharing Their Rich History and Charm with Northern Michigan

Many people know of Castle Farms’ beautiful weddings, it’s spectacular architecture, but who knows about the castle’s rich history?

Rebecca Moser, the Assistant General Manager for Castle Farms says, “We are 100 years old as of last year. We reached that centennial which is a big landmark for us. We’ve been through four different owners in the last hundred years. Anything from a dairy farm to an artist colony to a concert venue which is what most people in Charlevoix kind of have this image as a concert venue. Our owners Linda and Richard Mueller purchased this in 2001 and they were so in love with the history here. They want to keep it alive and in the community so they actually connected with the original Lobe family and reconstructed it in the original blueprint to give the history a chance to be alive for another hundred years.”

This rich history paired with the iconic Northern Michigan community of Charlevoix has brought in visitors from across the country. “We offer self guided tours every day throughout the summer months. And so we can have people come in the morning, walk through – leave for lunch and come back. It’s a daily pass. We also offer historical guided tours so people can come and walk with one of our historical tour guides and get the amazing hundred year old history. They’ll walk through each of the spaces and learn about each of the spaces and learn about the history,” says Rebecca Moser.

They will also be hosting a fairy garden make and take on July 30th as well as “All Aboard story time” on August 7th.
