Group of Teen Bicyclists Hitting the Road For A Heroic Cause

A group of teenagers from Traverse City is hitting the road on their bikes this summer to raise money for a “heroic” cause.

Five teens from El Liderato, Norte’s Youth Leadership Council, will be making a 7 day bike ride that’s over 300 miles long.

The goal of the long trek is to raise money for the League of Michigan Bicyclists “Hero of the Road” initiative.

The 360 mile route will take the teens along the West side of the state from Montague Michigan all the way up to the Mackinac Bridge.

The teens are hoping to raise more than $7,000 to promote cycling and advocate for cyclist safety across the state.

“It’s kind of daunting but I feel like with the group, everyone together, working together and the breaks every day, it’ll be doable and fun. The League of Michigan Bicyclists is an amazing organization, and so we want to raise funds for them so they can continue their hard work,” said Carter Schmidt of Norte El Liderato.
