We want to recognize an Upper Peninsula shoe store for more than 112 years of service and just over 4 decades of that under the most recent owners.

Watson’s Shoes in Pickford is closing its doors after 43 years.

That’s when Bill and Dorothy Mcdowell took over the store from the Watson family in 1976.

Earlier this week, they posted on Facebook, they will be retiring.

The original store, Taylor Grocery and Shoe Store, opened up in 1907.

The store has gone through a few changes over the years, but one thing that did not change is the customer loyalty and personal service.

The store will officially close August 15.

If there are any shoes left over at that time, they will be donated to charity.
