Surprise Exit: Naval Chief of Operations in Need of New Replacement

The admiral tapped by President Trump to take over as head of the Navy is now set to retire.

Admiral Bill Moran announced the decision to decline the job after his judgment was questioned for maintaining a professional relationship with another Navy officer who was investigated for sexual misconduct.

Moran stayed in contact with former Navy Public Affairs Officer Chris Servello.

Servello left the Navy after officials looked into sexual misconduct allegations against him.

Moran said his decision to stay in contact with Servello was in no way an endorsement of his actions.

The current Chief of Naval Operations John Richardson will remain in charge until a replacement can be found.
