Homeland Security Says Migrant Detention Centers Grossly Overcrowded
President Trump is pushing back against reports that migrants are being held in poor conditions, saying many of them are living in better conditions than in their home countries.
The statement is contradictory to a report released by the Homeland Security Inspector General.
The report claims the facilities are grossly overcrowded, calling it an immediate risk to migrants and agents.
But one senior border patrol agent says many of his colleagues have been saying what is written in the report for months.
$4.6 billion have been designated to help fix these problems, but agents worry it may be too little too late. They say the only way to take care of the problem is to fix old immigration laws.
