Downstate Couple Accused of Starting Brawl at Traverse City Bar

A downstate couple is facing assault charges after starting a brawl at a bar in downtown Traverse City.

It happened just before 1:30 Tuesday morning on Union Street when police say a bartender refused to serve a group of people.

Traverse City police say that’s when one man charged at the bar staff and a woman began throwing punches.

After getting kicked out police arrived, but they say the man rammed a patrol car with his truck before taking off.

He was found later hiding in the conference room at a nearby hotel.

The man is facing felony assault charges, and the woman was arrested for assault and battery.
