NCF Kids Cherry Pie Make & Bake Benefits Children’s Advocacy Center

The National Cherry Festival is underway in Traverse City and Northern Michigan’s News Leader will have crews all over covering the festivities all week long.

Kids of all ages joined the Grand Traverse Pie Company Monday to cook up some sweet, little pies at the Cherry Pie Make & Bake event at the Open Space.

The kids come in, collect their supplies and make personal pies with the experts.

It’s free of charge, but donations to benefit the Children’s Advocacy Center are the cherry on top!

“The Grand Traverse Pie Company have so generously offered to not only give us all the proceeds from this event, but match them dollar for dollar,” said Sue Bolde, the executive director for the Children’s Advocacy Center.

The event even has some coming back year after year.

“I’ve been doing it since I was really little, and my mom likes to take us,” said Addy Porter.

This is Addy’s 12th year.

“It’s really fun and the pie is so good! I like eating the crumb topping, that tastes really good by itself, too,” said Addy.
