MTM On The Road: National Cherry Festival Day 3

9&10 Logo

All week long we celebrate the fruit Traverse City is known for. Cherries!

It is now day three of the National Cherry Festival, and what better way to celebrate than with the sweet fruit itself?

According to the Guinness World Records, the longest distance for spitting a cherry is 95 feet. If you’re looking to try and beat that record, the tradition of the Cherry Spit Contest continues at the Open Space in Traverse City Monday night from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Cherries and cycling go hand-in-hand at the festival. Starting at 9 a.m., Norte is hosting the Cherry Pie Bike Ride on the trails and streets of Traverse City.

The reward for cycling is a free slice of pie voucher from The Grand Traverse Pie Co.
