Couple Found Dead Inside Hotel Indigo Identified

Two people were found dead inside Hotel Indigo this weekend.

Traverse City police are now calling this a murder-suicide and have just released the victims’ names.

A man and woman were found in a room at Hotel Indigo on Sunday, along with three pistols.

The couple has now been identified as husband and wife Tyler and Kaitlyn Cole from Traverse City.

Investigators believe Tyler killed his wife, then turned the gun on himself.

Police say it all started when the couple was still in their room past check-out time and staff couldn’t get inside.

Police, who were already nearby due to the air show and the National Cherry Festival, arrived just after 1 p.m. on Sunday.

They found the hotel room door was barricaded.

Officers had to force their way inside and then made a gruesome discovery.

“There was a deadlock bolt on the inside and also an ironing board that was securing that door from us opening it. We got in and there was a male and female, they were both on the bed. It was apparent that it was a murder-suicide,” said Chief Jeff O’Brien with the Traverse City Police Department.

The bodies are now in Kalamazoo for an autopsy.
