Grand Traverse Resort & Spa Hosts Stars, Stripes & Splatter Color Run

More than 400 people went to Grand Traverse County Saturday for a 5K with a patriotic twist.

The Grand Traverse Resort and Spa hosted the 6th Annual Stars, Stripes and Splatter Color Run.

The race started at 9:00 a.m. Saturday.

Like any color run, participants got splattered with color throughout the race, but this time, it was with red, white and blue.

After making it across the finish line, racers could enjoy free snacks or grab a beer from Short’s Brewing Company.

Organizers say it is a fun event with activities for the whole family.

“This race is a ton of fun and there are tons of ways to be a part of it. You can come out and be a volunteer with Habitat and you can be tossing the color at people. You can come running. You can come walking,” said race director Kelly Yauk.

All proceeds from the event will help local veterans build homes through Habitat for Humanity Grand Traverse Region.
