Fifth Annual Slashin’ Ashmun Event Brings Dozens of Cars to Downtown Sault Ste. Marie
“We’ve done this since day one, we’ve never missed a slashing night!” said Kandy Radtke of Sault Ste. Marie.
It’s meant to bring back memories of cruising Ashmun Street when gas was around a buck a gallon and the music and burn-outs were loud.
It didn’t matter the make or the model, or the condition of the vehicle you were cruising in.
It’s more about driving with the windows down, waving at the bystanders, and having a good time.
For one life-long Soo resident, this brings back the fun times from decades ago.
“Back in 87, and before that, when we got our driver’s license, this is what we did. We slashed Ashmun, met our friends downtown and had a great time. It just gets your blood flowing, your heart racing, it’s just wonderful. It’s so much fun!” said Radtke.
Radtke says she would love to be able to Slash Ashmun like this every weekend.
