Set Up for National Cherry Festival Begins

Things are really starting to green up in downtown Traverse City, but not in the way you may think.

The National Cherry Festival is now less than five days away, and crews are getting to work on the preparations.

In Traverse City, that means Tuesday is the day for Traverse City road crews to get to work along the Grandview Parkway.

They’re putting up green fencing all along the parkway, in the area closest to the Open Space.

It’s an annual effort to keep pedestrians safe by directing them to designated places where it’s safer to cross the busy parkway.
