Michigan Launching New $2 Million Campaign to Boost Recycling

Michigan is launching a new, $2 million campaign to try and boost recycling.

The “know it before you throw it” initiative is reminding residents to rinse and dry all plastics, glass and metal before recycling.

They also say plastic bags are not recycled by most cities.

Michigan’s 15% recycling rate is the lowest in the region, despite the 10 cent bottle return.

The state made the announcement Monday at a recycling transfer station in Lansing.
