Beaver Island Becoming Home to First Island Based Brewery in Michigan

Michigan’s craft beer industry is thriving and plays an essential role in the state’s economy.

With over 300, it’s the fifth largest in the nation.

One place you wouldn’t be able to find one is on an island.

That’s changing soon with the opening of Whiskey Point Brewing on Beaver Island.

It will be the first in Michigan to be based on an island.

After five years of work, it’s set to open on the Emerald Isle just in time for the Fourth of July.

In a special report at six, Eric Lloyd goes to the island to see how the state’s most isolated brewing company was crafted.
