AG Nessel: MSU Lacks Credibility to Conduct Investigation Into Handling of Nassar Case

Michigan State University decided to hire an independent investigator to look into their handling of the Larry Nassar sex abuse case, but there is pushback today.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel says the university lacks the credibility to conduct such an investigation.

Larry Nassar is a former MSU sports doctor convicted of sexually abusing girls and young women under the guise of medical treatment.

The university previously conducted internal investigations into how claims of abuse were not followed up on for years.

Now they plan to hire an independent investigator.

But AG Nessel says previous investigations cleared MSU, and the only way to regain legitimacy is to hand all information they have on the Nassar case to the attorney general for investigation.
