AG Nessel Brings Elder Abuse Task Force Listening Tour to Traverse City

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel is in Northern Michigan.

She is in Traverse City on a listening tour with her Elder Abuse Task Force.

Nessel is shining a light on the problem of abuse, neglect and exploitation of vulnerable elderly people in Michigan, often at the hand of those entrusted to protect and care for them.

The attorney general has made it clear elder abuse is a very important issue to her.

Nessel, along with Michigan Supreme Court Justice Megan Cavanaugh, came to the Traverse Area District Library in Traverse City to hear the public’s thoughts on issues related to our aging population.

The public was able to come in and voice their concerns based on their experiences.

The attorney general says this task force was created to bring solutions to address those concerns.

“The best way to tackle these concerns was to bring all of the resources together we could so that we could not just develop what these problems were, but we can actually deliver solutions,” said Nessel.

This tour is really an effort to make sure the Elderly Abuse Task Force knows what direction they need to go in.
