Gov. Whitmer Signs Executive Directive to Protect Lake Erie

Governor Gretchen Whitmer is ordering the state to make more of an effort to cut Lake Erie nutrient pollution.

Governor Whitmer is asking state agencies to reduce phosphorus pollution and otherwise improve water quality in Lake Erie.

The state adopted guidelines last year to cut phosphorus pollution by 40% by 2025.

Governor Whitmer is looking to weaken nutrient inflows from the Detroit River, the River Raisin and the Maumee River.
