Fighting Invasive Species: Great Lakes Region Bands Together
Multiple states, along with two Canadian provinces, are teaming up to fight invasive species in the Great Lakes.
The group includes Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Ontario and Quebec.
They plan to work together to enforce invasive species laws..and investigate possible violations, including possession and transport of banned exotic species like Asian carp.
More than 180 non-native species have been introduced into the Great Lakes.
They compete with native species and hurt sport and commercial fishing, tourism and recreation.
