130-Year-Old Manistee Fire Station Hits Guinness World Record

Manistee’s fire station has officially achieved a Guinness World Record.

June 18, 2019, is the Manistee Fire Station’s 130th Anniversary—and also the day Guinness World Records awarded it the title of Oldest Continuously Manned Operating Fire Station.

It’s the first ever honor of that title awarded by GWR, and it took two years to verify.

The City of Manistee says to achieve the recognition, they spent two years providing proof that the fire station has been continuously staffed by paid professionals for 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

As it stands now, GWR declared the Manistee Fire Station has been continuously staffed since it first began operation in 1889.
