June is a time to celebrate diversity and acceptance — its pride month!

Sault Ste. Marie will be holding its first ever “pride event” next weekend.

The Sault Pride Committee, The Boys and Girls Club of Bay Mills and the Chippewa County Community Foundation are all hosting the event.

Sault Pride organizer, Adam Gurnoe said, “They always do not feel comfortable talking about their personal issues, their mental health, and this event will hopefully let them know that they are supported, that there are people who they can talk to and that do care about them.”

There will be a lot of activities for the family including bouncy houses, yard games, dunk tank, temporary tattoos, and drag-queen story time.

While filled with family fun, this event also serves the purpose to educate everyone about being inclusive.

It’s being held at Sherman Park on the west side of Sault Ste. Marie on Saturday, June 22 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
