Men Honored for Saving Boaters From Lake Michigan

Two men who saved two boaters’ lives by pulling them out of Lake Michigan are being honored for their heroic actions.

Over the weekend at a water safety event, the Oceana County sheriff honored Trevor Castonia and Cy Suld with lifesaving awards from the Michigan Sheriff’s Association.

The two were on a charter boat when they pulled the boaters out of the water at the mouth of the Pentwater River earlier this month.

The boaters were in an 18-foot bass boat, being hit with four to five foot waves.

The water temperatures were in the low 50s, so they would not have survived in the water much longer.
