Hundreds of Trout Delivered to Kid’s Fishing Pond in Sault Ste. Marie

Hundreds of fish found a new home in Sault Ste. Marie Friday.

400 rainbow trout were delivered to the Kid’s Fishing Pond at Rotary Park by Cedarbrook Trout Farms.

This is the second drop this week.

On Tuesday, the DNR dumped more than 200 brown trout into the pond.

Another 600 will be added next week.

The fishing pond is about the size of a football field and is free to use by children 16 and under.

“The St. Mary’s River is deep. There is a lot of current. This pond makes it a lot easier, or it makes the chance greater for a kid to come up and catch something,” said fishing pond volunteer, Tom Pink.

Donations covered the cost of the fish drop.

Each fish costs about $4.
