The US Forest Service is Proposing New Plan to Improve Safety on Northern Michigan Rivers

The US Forest Service is announcing the action plan to improve safety on some Northern Michigan rivers Wednesday.

Initially, the Huron-Manistee National Forests tried to ban alcohol on the rivers.

Wednesday they will be giving an alternative to that.

Our team is that the meeting to explain what we are expected to learn about that plan.

The safety plan presented today will be for sections of the Au Sable, Manistee and Pine Rivers.

Several different community members will join the USDA at the Norman Township Hall at 1 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

Again, their goal is to find ways to improve safety and etiquette on these three rivers for this summer.

There will not be an alcohol ban put into place this year.
