Polestar LGBT Center Honors Victims of Pulse Nightclub Shooting Three Years Later
Three years ago Wednesday, 49 people died and 53 were injured in a shooting at the Pulse night club in Orlando, Florida.
The club catered to a predominantly gay clientele.
Tonight, Traverse City’s Polestar LGBT+ Center hosted a vigil to remember those lost in the deadliest attack on the LGBTQ+ community.
They spoke the names of every single victim to honor their memory.
Their names, ages and photos hung on the wall of the center.
Polestar says although the attack happened in Florida the loss hits very close to home.
“This is a way for us to come together and be positive and remember why we’re doing this and why we need a community center why we need pride and why we need to create a family,” said Polestar board member Christina Walsh.
