9&10’s Caroline Klapp Trains for Swim for Grand Traverse Bay at Cadillac YMCA
Sign ups for the Swim for Grand Traverse Bay are open, so it’s time to dive into training.
The fourth annual swim benefits the Watershed Center of Grand Traverse Bay and will take place August 10.
I have been training at the Cadillac YMCA to get ready to race.
The swim is just eight weeks from this Saturday.
The swim for Grand Traverse Bay is a two mile swim and one of the only point to point swims in Northern Michigan. But most importantly the swim is benefiting Grand Traverse Bay Watershed, a nonprofit to help protect our precious lakes.
I am taking this opportunity to get out of my comfort zone with swimming. The lifeguards at the Y have made a huge difference with my freestyle stroke.
“That’s looking good. It’s like you are piercing the water. And then you are reaching out a little farther to get that other arm and your body is already going to start turning,” Cadillac YMCA lifeguard, Liz said.
There are so many different skill levels participating in this swim so don’t let the race aspect hold you back. Keep following the four to follow my journey until swim day on August 10.
