Traverse City Commissioners to Discuss Upgrades to Wastewater Treatment Plant

The state says Traverse City needs a multi-million dollar upgrade to its wastewater treatment plant and the city commission will be discussing it Monday night.

The new change is recommended by Michigan’s Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy.

The city would need an estimated $3 million for an ultra-violet disinfection system for its water treatment plant.

The new system would neutralize micro-organisms as they pass through ultra-violet lamps.

First term requirements will likely need to be done around the end of 2020, and long-term requirements will need to be met by July 1, 2026.

We’ll have a crew at the meeting, stay with Northern Michigan’s News Leader for updates!
