Munson Healthcare Hosts 32nd Annual Cancer Prevention, Survivors’ Picnic

It may not have been a picture-perfect picnic day, but one in Traverse City was a success nonetheless

Sunday was the 32 annual Cancer Prevention and Survivors Picnic at the Cowell Family Cancer Center.

The picnic draws hundreds of people to celebrate being cancer free and allows others to learn about cancer prevention.

Community partners were on hand to give information on healthy eating, smoking cessation programs and skin cancer screenings.

People also listened to talks from local doctors and cancer survivors.

Munson Healthcare says it’s a way of saying thank you.

“There’s over 20 million in the United States right now, cancer survivors and we want to celebrate them. The community is just supportive of our cancer patients overall and we are very thankful for that and this is our way to give back,” says the executive director of oncology services at Munson Healthcare, Kathy Laraia.
