Legal Battle Over Agreement to Build Tunnel for Line 5 Pipeline Heats up
Enbridge is asking the state to rule if its agreement to build a tunnel for its Line 5 pipeline is legal.
Attorney General Dana Nessel responded to the move Thursday saying, “We look forward to seeing them in court.”
The Canadian company originally made the agreement to construct the pipeline tunnel in the Straits of Mackinac with former Governor Rick Snyder.
The new Michigan attorney general says the law implementing the tunnel agreement violates the state’s constitution.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer is pushing Enbridge to speed up its timeline to build the tunnel.
She wants to reach an agreement by Monday.
