Michigan WIC Agencies Now Allowed to Donate Unused, Returned Cans of Formula

The state is changing a policy surrounding unused and returned baby formula.

The USDA has given the state the O.K. to let WIC agencies donate the formula to local nonprofit organizations like food banks or shelters.

They can also still throw it away.

The USDA is not allowing returned formula to be re-issued to people on WIC, the offices have to donate the formula to the shelters or food banks.

Those that bring in the unopened formula can then get a voucher to get new formula for free.
