Michigan Launches Online Child Abuse Reporting Tool
The state of Michigan has launched a new online portal that will allow people to submit online complaints regarding child abuse or neglect.
The site will be utilized by mandatory reporters, like lawyers, teachers, coaches and spiritual leaders.
Before the online tool, mandatory reporters had to make complaints via phone call and follow up with a written report.
The new portal will make reporting more accessible and straightforward.
“As mandated reporters, it’s great to have a system that makes things more efficient and helpful for us to do it and still good job of trying to do the best we can to protect children,” said Dr. Amelia Siders, of the Traverse Area Children’s Advocacy Center.
Reporters will also be able to track their complaint as it moves through the state.
If you know about or suspect child abuse, call 855-444-3911.
