Northern Michigan Athletes Compete in Special Olympic Summer Games

Despite Saturday’s rain and a lack of sunshine, Special Olympics athletes competed at Central Michigan University.

The 51st Special Olympics Michigan State Summer Games wrapped up Saturday.

More than 3,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities took part in this year’s games, the most in 15 years.

They took part in swimming, gymnastics, power lifting and more.

Some of the track and field events had to be moved indoors but everything went off without a hitch.
