The FDA Taking Steps to Begin Regulating CBD

The Food and Drug Administrations has taken its first steps towards regulating CBD.

It held a public hearing on the topic today.

It’s a rapidly growing industry across the country and could be worth more than $20 billion.

More than 100 people spoke at today’s hearing.

Industry leaders say many people don’t know what is legal and what is safe when it comes to CBD.

CBD is made from cannabis but contains only trace amounts of THC.

“We’re hoping that the FDA give us more clarity, kind of somewhat of a regulation because this is an unregulated market,” said Jerry Lin, owner of Natural Relief.

No decisions are expected any time soon.

The FDA has said CBD is not allowed in food and drinks on a national level, but some states including Michigan already allow it.
