2019 Special Olympics Has Begun: Central Michigan University

The Special Olympics Michigan State Summer Games kicked off yesterday at Central Michigan University.

More than 3,000 athletes from across the state converge to compete in 9 different events.

There are also health screenings, celebrations and so much fun to be had.

Before teams arrive, they spend months practicing and competing closer to home.

Michelle Dunaway spoke with a coach and athlete about their experiences and what the Special Olympics means to them
