Traverse City Police: Body Found Near Boardman Lake, Death is Suspicious
Two people on a walk found a man’s body on the shore of Boardman Lake.
Police are calling the death suspicious.
Traverse City police say they identified the victim, but are not releasing his name until the can notify his family.
Captain Jim Bussell told us the call came in around 5:30 Wednesday evening.
He says the body was found near Centre Place and Sheffer Street, near the Boardman Lake Trail.
Officers on the scene say they were not moving the body until the Michigan State Police crime lab arrived.
They are now going through the scene.
“We immediately backed out, we secured the crime scene and we have the Michigan State Police crime lab on the way to process the scene right now. The nature and extent of the injuries make it to appear to be a suspicious death,” Captain Bussell said.
Police say an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday morning at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo.
