What’s Growing With Tom: Food Plot

Welcome back Northern Michigan! Our flowers are planted, our vegetables are planted, how about our food plot?

We planted this food plot last year where the soil isn’t the best. But we still had lots of bucks a lot of does – the proof is here from our trail camera.

The combination of Food Plot Doo, lime and the right seed allowed it to come together nicely.

If we planted now, we would seed in alfalfa, chicory and clover. Nothing too thick!  We would have to start with Food Plot Doo – just like last year.

With the new regulations from the DNR, you can’t bait anymore. So a food plot or planting a few fruit trees like apple or pear near your bow or rifle stand is a great idea.

The apple tree we planted last year is looking good even after being roughed up by a bunch of beetles last spring.

We are not tilling this week, but plan too later this season and plant this summer.

In next week’s segment, we are talking about making sure your hanging baskets last all year.
