Otsego County Awarded $52,000 Grant to Evaluate Polluted Site for Redevelopment

Otsego County is getting more than $52,000 from the state to investigate a polluted site for future re-development.

The grant from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy will help the county evaluate soil and groundwater contamination at the site of a vacant motel and gas station located on South Otsego Avenue in Gaylord.

Officials will also examine lead, asbestos and mold inside the motel buildings.

Once the county gets the results of the evaluation, it plans to sell the property to a developer.
