Missing Plane Found in Lake Michigan Near Frankfort

A plane missing for nearly two weeks has been found in Lake Michigan.

Michigan State Police say they made the discovery around 5 Wednesday evening.

State police say they found the plane about 4.5 miles off the shoreline about 515 feet underwater.

While they have found the wreckage, the bodies of the men on board, Emanuel Manos and Randy Dippold, are still missing.

The Michigan State Police Marine Services Team say they used an autonomous underwater vehicle with sonar to track this plane down.

A rover with a camera confirmed that the plane they found is the one they had been searching for.

While both the Michigan State Police and the Benzie County Sheriff’s Office are happy with the progress, they say their job is not done yet.

They will now continue to search for Manos and Dippold to bring closure to their families.

At 2 p.m. Thursday, Michigan State Police and the Benzie County Sheriff’s Office will hold a press conference about the discovery.
