Networks Northwest held their first event at the Grand Traverse Civic Center.
All geared to show kids a wide range of career paths.
Ninth grade students from 30 different school districts attended yesterday’s event.
They had the opportunity to visit with more than 60 different employers.
Anything from manufacturing, construction, health sciences and information technology to hospitality and agriculture.
Business Services Coordinator Jessie Mitchell says each station encouraged the students to get hands-on.
“Many of these students may not even know of certain occupations, so just to get that conversation started is our goal,” she says. “And even if a student shows up and says ‘oh I thought I liked that but I don’t,’ that’s a plus and that’s a win on our side.”
Overall, more than 2,000 students attended the event.
