Beth De Vries teaches beginners about growing, preparing and preserving vegetables.

She grew up on a dairy farm in McBain and had a desire to serve the community ever since.

De Vries saw her chance to help when her family and a group of others rented 30 acres of land. With the extra land, the Phoenix Farm was born.

Wednesday is planting day where the community will help plant seeds and seedlings. This is the first stage of growing food to share with the Midland County community.

The farm receives local donations of compost from Dairy Doo and resources from Greater Michigan Construction Academy that will help construct a fence for the farm.

Wake up with Regan Blissett and Stephanie Adkins as they’ll be getting down in the dirt to help plant vegetables that will help serve hundreds throughout the summer.
