Memorial Wall Makes a Stop in Manistee

The Michigan Vietnam Memorial Wall and the Michigan Eastern Conflict Memorial Wall is in Manistee to celebrate the 10th Annual Tight Lines for Troops Fishing Tournament this weekend.

Several police agencies and the Rolling Thunder Michigan Chapter One escorted the wall this morning from the Manistee VFW Post to the First Street Beach area. It will be setup there on Friday and Saturday.

Saturday is the 10th year for Tight Lines for Troops.

Organizers say they wanted to add something special to help celebrate the big weekend for veterans.

“Help us remember our brothers who gave up their lives,” said John Stocki, a board member for Tight Lines for Troops. “We just want them to come out and pay tribute to those who gave their lives for our country.”

Both walls are open to the public until 7 p.m. Friday and until 6 p.m. on Saturday.
