Right to Life of Michigan Launches 2nd Trimester Abortion Ban Petition

The anti-abortion group Right to Life of Michigan has taken its first step toward launching a petition drive to ban a common second-trimester abortion procedure.

The move comes after Michigan’s legislature passed bills to ban the dilation and evacuation method earlier this week.

Governor Whitmer says she will veto the measures if they reach her desk.

But if Right to Life collects about 340,000 voter signatures, it could enact the initiated legislation without a signature from the governor.

The organization says it will begin collecting signatures after the board of state canvassers approves its petition.
