Hook and Hunting: Catching Crappies to Cure Cancer

On Saturday in Cadillac, anglers will be catching crappie to cure cancer.

This is the eighth year for this fishing tournament.

It raises money for Relay for Life of Wexford County.

Almost everyone goes home with a prize, but the top three adults and top three kids go home with a crappie plaque.

The tournament gives people a chance to have fun fishing while remembering friends and family who have lost their battles with cancer.

“I lost a couple fishing buddies to cancer, two of them in the same year, so I said I have to do it,” said tournament coordinator Allen Retlewski.

The tournament starts at 6 a.m. Saturday at the Kentwood Park pavilion.

You can register early at Pilgrims Village of the day of the event.

Adults are $100, and kids fish for free.
