Alabama: The Most Restrictive Abortion Bill in U.S. Signed into Law

The most restrictive abortion law in the country now has the signature of Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey.

The law will outlaw virtually all abortions, including cases of rape and incest.

Alabama is not alone in pursuing tougher abortion laws.

Six states have now passed bills that ban abortion after six weeks.

And 11 other states have introduced similar bans this year.

Ivey says the law is a testament to their deeply held belief that every life is precious.

Many groups within Alabama strongly oppose the bill and are preparing lawsuits against it.

They say it violates the constitution by restricting women’s rights and what they are able to do with their body.

Both Planned Parenthood and the American Civil Liberties Union are planning to take this issue to court.

Many Conservatives are welcoming the legal battle, saying it was designed to go to the Supreme Court to challenge Roe v. Wade.

The case could potentially be seen by the Supreme Court within the year.

The Supreme Court currently holds a Conservative majority.
