Tech Tuesday: Play & Exercise Outside With These Four Games
The sun is finally shining in Northern Michigan!
What better way to soak up the sun than getting some exercise while playing an entertaining game?
In this week’s Tech Tuesday, we’re taking a look at four gaming apps to get your kids outside and active.
Before we dive into these four apps, I do want to remind you to pay attention to your surroundings when exploring outside and always avoid playing these games near roads.
Run in the real world and become a hero in another with the Zombies, Run! app. With this creative game, you are one of the few who have survived the zombie epidemic and are a runner en-route to one of humanity’s last remaining outposts. Your job is to gather supplies, rescue survivors and defend their home.
Here’s how it works: Start by walking, jogging or running anywhere in the world. Through your headphones, you’ll hear your mission and music. If you are chased by a zombie, you’ll have to run faster. You’ll also automatically collect supplies to build up your base.
When ghosts start popping up all over the world, who you gonna call? The Ghostbusters World app uses augmented reality and maps technology to find and bust ghosts in the real world. With this app, you can fire your proton beam and capture and collect ghosts from all dimensions of the Ghostbuster franchise. You can join forces with other nearby Ghostbusters to take down powerful ghosts in multiplayer boss raids.
The app features an all original story so you can dive into an all new Ghostbusters story featuring your favorite characters.
With the Jurassic World Alive app, enter a world where dinosaurs have returned to rule the Earth and are roaming free. Explore your world with location-based technology and discover dinosaurs on a map. The app features your favorite dinosaurs from Jurassic World, along with new breeds that are more awe-inspiring than ever. As you explore your world, you can collect dinosaur DNA to level up and create hybrids in the lab. As you collect dinosaurs, you can take them into battle against your friends to win rewards. The app is a subscription-based with a price of $9.99 a month.
Pokemon GO lets you catch Pokemon as you explore the world around you. As you walk around, your phone will vibrate to let you know a Pokemon is near. Once you found one, you can use your phone to throw a Poke Ball to catch it. As you explore, be on the lookout for PokeStops, located at interesting public places, where you can collect more Poke Balls and other items. You can also battle other players, called trainers, and earn rewards.
