2nd Trimester Abortion Ban Bill Set Before Michigan Lawmakers

Michigan lawmakers are voting on a set of bills today that aim to ban a common second-trimester abortion procedure.

The legislation would stop doctors from performing the procedure except if it’s required to save the mother’s life.

If the legislature passes the measures, they would then move to Governor Whitmer’s desk.

But with her expected veto, the Right to Life organization is preparing to launch an identical citizens’ initiative, which lawmakers could enact without the governor’s signature.
