Man in Custody After Alpena Roof Workers Report Hearing Gunshots

We have continuing coverage on possible shots being fired at workers on a roof in Alpena Sunday.

It started around 4:30 Sunday afternoon.

Police say the man is in custody after surrendering to police hours after it started.

Alpena city police say it happened near the Decorative Panel International building on Ford Avenue.

They say employees were doing maintenance on the building’s roof when they heard gunshots.

Everyone was able to get to safety, and no one was hurt.

Police later found out the shots were fired from a home nearby.

They identified the homeowner as a person of interest and arrested him around 9 p.m. Sunday.

As of now, there’s no word on a possible motive.
