Benzie County Crews Searching For Missing Plane
A search is underway for a single engine plane that went missing around 8 Sunday night over Lake Michigan.
That includes Homeland Security, the Benzie County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Coast Guard and the DNR.
All have been working to find any traces of this plane.
The Benzie County sheriff said two men were on board, right now it’s not clear on their ages.
The sheriff says their engine stalled and couldn’t restart.
That’s when they planned to land the plane in Frankfort.
The pilot was in contact with Minneapolis air traffic control but went off radar about 4.5 miles out on Lake Michigan.
The plane registered to Evergreen Exploration, flew out of Ontonagon, Michigan and planned to land in Monroe.
Crews were out searching throughout the night and continue to today.
The Sheriff says it’s a wide search and they have yet to find any traces of this plane.
